The story

Grandpa's gear
has expired.

SpookyFish was built for the angler who doesn't want gear designed by their grandpa. Although he is cool, and knows the water better than you ever will — his style has expired.

Chapter one

A skeleton crew, on the coast.

We started SpookyFish on a Wednesday, in a garage in North County. Two fly rods leaning against a beer fridge, one screenprint press held together with zip ties, and a shared complaint that fly fishing apparel had — somehow, against all odds — become the least stylish part of a very stylish sport.

Grandpa's out there in a khaki vest. Grandpa is a legend. Grandpa also owns three of the same beige sun hoodie and thinks that's a personality. We love him. We're not him.

SpookyFish is bone-on-black apparel for people who fish hard and dress on purpose. Heavy cotton, boxy fits, small runs. The kind of piece you throw in the truck on Thursday and still wear to dinner on Sunday.

Chapter two

Have fun. Feel core.

Our mission is to have fun. Feel core. All at the same time protecting the areas we love to haunt — the waters that give us freedom to explore.

That means small drops instead of endless SKUs. It means shooting our lookbooks at 5am on rivers we grew up on. It means giving a piece of every order back to the groups protecting them.

No fleece vests. No AI-generated trout. Just gear for the dark side of fly fishing.

The dispatch

Field notes from the dark side

New drops, secret spots we're only half telling you about, and the occasional love letter to a river. No noise.
